that is more proof that the current 20" low rpm test is useless , there is no way the 250 with a Q is louder than the 450 with the yosh w/ insert at full throttle , that is why the FIM has a new full throttle sound test and until the new 2 meter max sound test is the new standard we will have to put up with this type of bs


I just went and checked out your sight. Looks like you have a quality product. I have a 2010 450, and was looking into getting an exhaust and a tuner and some other changes over time,(wife won't let me blow a small fortune on things like this right away). I had checked into yoshimura, it seems to be one of the few that expands into the muffler chamber. Anyways when the time is right to buy a pipe I would like to know what I want to get. Do you have much experience with your pipe on the yamaha '10 450? I would like to keep my low and mid power and increase a little top end if possible. I don't care about a spark arrestor or the bike being really quiet. Honestly, will your pipe help me accomplish this? I am seriously interested in your product, although a purchase might not be made right away, thanks.

Below is my DT-1 filter after a 3-hour session at Perris Raceway, a groomed MX track. Very little dust that day and I was a little surprised to see so much dirt on the filter. It may have been the holes that made the difference, I can't say. Notice the clean areas where the filter is agains the lid or housing. Those would be some spots to drill more holes.
I haven't tried it yet and don't own one, but I believe the DT-1 cage is lower than the stock cage. The stock cage is in the picture.

thanks for the pics BBrown, much appreciated. I've ordered the complete system because I didn't want the filter clearance to be a problem.

I was told by DT-1 that the holes can be drilled in the upper part of the shroud as well as the black piece that is directly under the steering stem.

It seems that clearly airflow is restricted, as well as cleaning made more of a hassle with those holes, plus louder exaust note. I fail to see the positive?

I would say the dt1 is worse than stock by those photos for sure.

Look at how much of the filter was touching the airbox cover and isn't getting any airflow cause it's perfectly clean.

I can answer all your ? better if you contact me through my website , from what testing I have done on this bike both track and dyno I would say most aftermarket pipes either full or slipon when run with no db insert will boost mid/top power noticeably with no loss on bottom , the bottom is the strong spot on a stocker so when you boost mid/top it can give the impression that the bottom is not as strong when it is the same as it was though

I have the mrd slip-on and it works great. It really wakes up the mid-range to top end, and the build quality is second to none.

I have Yoshimura slip-on running Jay Marmont FI mapping. It has maybe just a little less hit off bottom, but pulls long and strong on high rpm. Love it.

Like the sound too, but it is pretty loud with 96db? insert with no spark arrester screen. Had to run stock system at some tracks here, and it suck compare to Yoshimura.

I don't have experience with any other exhaust on 2010 YZ450F, but since stock is pretty plugged up in any late model 4st MXers, most aftermarket muffler should work well in comparison I imagine. A friend's 2011 CRF450 felt like 450X stock (I think Japanese market CRF is even more plugged up than US one), but became a real 450 with Yoshimura full system!:excuseme:

I just finished 2 days at the track with my new yosh slip on. After having the drd full system which i wasnt very happy with and the fmf 4.1 slip on which i really liked. I have to say the yosh seemed to pull harder everywhere. I was running the marmot map with pump gas and no intake mods.

Also my rs4 is longer than my friends that was purchased a few weeks before mine. I called yosh cali. and the tech guy I spoke to was not helpfull at all as to why this might be.:ride: Both pipes are of the dual mount variety and not the single mount that was the early model.

The yosh RS4 is my favorite so far of the ones I have tested.:cheers:

Yes the 2011 model is longer and I was told by the Yosh tech support that it was for sound reasons only and no performance was gained nor lossed. I do like the look of the shorter exhaust but the longer one isn't that bad.
