New YZ450's for $5000 OTD

Recommended Posts

Local dealer trying to liquidate leftover 09 450's. Was in getting parts for my smoker and saw this. I ride tight woods and suspect this bike would be a handful for me. In lifting the back end it appears lighter than I thought. I am still thinking about it. I know there great bikes but the cost to prepare it for woods riding may make it a bad deal. So if I could hear from those that prefer this bike for woods and I assume basic mods. Thanks

What cost?........put gas in it and go! ha ha. Seriously tho, I ride tight single track with pinon juniper trees. My mods: Changed the rear sprocket to a 52, GYTR skid plate, GYTR heaviest flywheel and a cheap Bell odometer. I get about 30 mpg (I'm 51 y.o. = ride easy)so no big gas tank needed. Go for it! They open at 9 right? ?

Sounds like a great deal. The only expensive mod needed is suspension.

I'm trying to upgrade to a 09 from my clapped out 08. Used 09 $4k, new $5.5K. Hoping to get $2.5K for 08.

Great bikes for the woods. I would go for it if you are over 180 lbs.

I got an new 09 in april for 4899,drove 250 mile for that price. I really don't see any mods you would need. It is very soft in the low rpms. A beast in the high rpms. Suspension wise best I have ever been on. It comes stock very plush just now Playing with the clickers and it stiffens up nicely without being harsh in any part of the stroke.

Great prices there, guys. My local dealer here in western Indiana has a 2009 YZ 450 discounted a whopping $200....that's right....$7399. No thanks. As for the bike, though...I am in the market for a new leftover bike and $5k sounds good to me for that much bike. My experience with Yamaha big thumpers was my 1999 YZ 400. Not bad, but long, heavy, slow-turning. I know the new ones are good, but are they CRF/RMZ feeling at all as far as ease of riding, turning, and such? Looked at a number of 250Fs and at 185 lbs, can handle the bigger bike well enough.

  • 2 weeks later...

I got the same bike, and i got a white one too!!!

I am in the great rocky mountains and if i werent so dumb i would send you a pic of it to date with mods. I am currently "into" it 5600 with the mods i need to race competitively in the 40A class off road AND mx...and i have the450 and LOVE IT

friend bought the 250 and LOVES HIS TOO...all he did really was throw a rekluse in it and he races and trailrides it everywhere and totally happy. i wish i could afford a rekluse for mine as that would fix the rest of the "wishes " i have for it

race GPs, nasty XCs, rain, mud, rocks, Idaho City type events, everything..what a bike (previous bike 06 WR..love it but not the weight)
