WR450 Cylindar Breather Tubes - What are they for

I was plugging off the AIS system and got a little confused about the other larger air hoses on the 08 WR 450. The manual labels them cylindar head breather tubes.

Would anyone care to enlighten me on what they do and how critical they are.

Breather tubes on the head, on any engine, keep the air pressure from building up. Plug off the vent tubes and watch a seal blow out somewhere in a short amount of time. Cars would have a PCV valve installed on this line.

Thanks. It looks like they tie into the crankcase too.
