not much help but my "04 is getting one. Haven't heard anything negative about them from freinds but they don't have YZs.

I just pulled this one out of our cr250r, the big bearing is still fine, the outer housing skin let go

does not matter, I do not think the outer casing should ever fail before the big end bearing

There isn't an outer casing like that on a YZF crank, so that won't be an issue. Hot Rods cranks have a fairly good rep in YZF's, actually. Not like OEM, but you do get what you pay for.
