lowering link yz450f 2010/2011

hello. i just buyed a yz450f 2011 but it's very hight for me. i have looked on a lowering link for my bike. but i dont know wich it should be? there is difrends sizes on it. and i want one so my bike will be lower. can anyone tell me something about it. how much lower it will be, and how it is to ride with it ?

For the 2010 and 2011 there are a few lowering links on the market. Some lower it less than 1 inch, and there is a 1.5 inch lowering model.

The #1 most important part is to be properly sprung for your weight AND reset sag. If you are on the border of needing a heavier spring (80 kg) with the stock suspension you probably need a heavier spring with the extra leverage of a lowering link.

Depending on the amount of lowering in the rear you then slide the fork tubes UP in the triple clamps. Start at around 3mm and go up or down depending on personal preference.

And you may change the shock's rebound (turn in clockwise) slightly to help slow the rear wheel's return to full extension; the extra leverage is the reason why.

How much do you want to lower? I have a ProCurcuit Link on 2010. The link is 1 or 1.5mm longer than stock (I only had tape measure), which made rear end about 11mm lower. That's only 2/5 of an inch.

Handling wise, it made big difference right away. After working on different settings, I really like it.

One thing. My rear tire is rubbing the backside of fender pretty hard now, I don't know how much lower you can go without causing problems, like ripping it off or something.

We just put one on my sons 2010 450f. Also 20mm t_clamps. he loves it! Bought one for 2009 450f. well see how it is this weekend.

instruction didn't say anything about resetting sag. I figured the link just moves the whole rear end in or up, so no need to do so. I checked it to make sure, but didn't see much difference.

I'm 185lb dry which isn't helping rear fender situation. Could use stiffer springs.

The bike comes stock with 22mm offset.
