Just bought an 03 wr 450 with 300 miles on it. When I press the starter button, it has a high pitch whine and the starter seems not to engage. Help.

Get the manual and open up that starter. It is very common problem, and if you do a search here you will find info.

Make note of the yoke position when you disassemble it. If you make it backwards, it will run backwards!
Use moly grease!
Clean it well!
You may need new brushes
You may have to have the commutor turned.

Any buzzing relays ? Do these motors use starter clutches like raptors ect. ?
