2010 yz450f woods setup?

Recommended Posts

I just bought a 2010 YZ450F and love the bike. I was wondering if anyone had pictures of their 2010 with woods mods or to just share what kind of woods mods they have made. I know that the tuner is the most common, but I am more interested in what people think of flywheel weights and stuff like that. Thanks

I will check out that sight. Anyone want to comment on how they think this bike is for Hare Scramble racing. I know it would make a great GP or WORCS bike. I am giving up my 06 YZ250 2t to make the YZ450f my all around bike and dont know if it is a mistake.

Heres a little talk about it, may be somewhat helpful. I think the woods map and the gytr heavy flywheel is all I need to be happy. I like the stock gearing and I think adding the heavy flywheel will help out with the clutch work. A rekluse would be nice too but im not spending that much.

The mapping of the efi sounds like it would definately help. My big worry with this bike is stalling during a race. It is not a 2t and have had some issues with flame out and not wanting to start back up. Where the YZ250 was never an issue. Seat time for now and save for the rekluse. Anybody got their hands on an IMS tank yet? :bonk:

From what I've read people have a big issue with the 2010's stalling in 1st. I think a GYTR flywheel or a flywheel weight is a necessary thing for these bikes in the woods to be enjoyable..

However.. with my yz250 two stroke, people have told me that a flywheel weight is a must, but I get along just fine without it in the woods...

Thanks for all the information. I have been viewing all the other forums on the 2010 YZ450f and there is some good stuff out there. There is really no cheap way to make this a really good woods racer, it is good trail bike, but not a racer. Especially compared to my 2t. But I think with time it will be much better.

I am not finding options for fly wheel weights only GYTR flywheel replacement, which adds 4.44 oz. Stealthy doesnt seem to have one yet. Any suggestions.

Its more about where the weight is than the amount. If you read the fine print the inertia mass is greater than the 06 - 09 with a 9 oz weight. How well it works and how much it helps I don't know.

I just put handguards on it, a gytr skid, rad braces, and have the IMS tank but havent put it on yet till c.c.'s start. I think the woods map is perfect for tight stuff, but in D36 cross countrys, I'm going to run a little leaner and not so retarted on the timing. It's def. a good map but Id say its more for 1ft. wide and narrower 1-3rd gear trails. For cross country i think its too sluggish but thas just my thoughts. I cant imagine running a heavier fly wheel anywhere unless I'm goat trail riding in 5mph or slower huge rocky stuff.
