Valves?

Recently, my WR started to have a stumbling problem (feels rich) in the low to mid range. The weather hasn't changed drastically and this happened all of a sudden and it ran perfectly before. Could it be that the valves need adjusted and that it's not a jetting problem? ? I haven't adjusted the valves since I bought the bike new in Feb 2002.
