I have a problem with my 2006 yz450f. I have oil leaking from the seal under the front sprocket. I replaced the seal however its still leaking. It looks to me that i have excessive pressure in the crankcase. Does anybody know what might be causing this problem?
Thanks in advance.

The output shaft bearing is pressure fed, so the integrity of the whole sealing system is important. Common mistakes made in replacing the seal are:

  • Failure to replace a worn or damaged seal collar
  • Failure to replace the O-ring between the shaft and the collar
  • Installing the seal out of square with the shaft
  • Installing the seal too deep (should be not quite flush with the case
  • Failure to properly tighten the nut
