i think we should be signing a petition to let the 125cc guys have their own class and the 250cc two strokes have their own class then there can be 4 clases at every nationals and supercross race and 4 whole motos with just the sweet sound of 2smoke

signed it...

This is a great debate.

My wife and I are currently on 4 strokes. Not really our top choice, but we ended up with them due to some trading. Both bikes are in really good shape and need nothing.

The last time we went riding, she starting saying how she thought she liked a 2-stroke better but had not yet made up her mind, (she is on a CRF250X). Well it did not take me long to start thinking the same thing. I'm on a YZ250F with a 262 kit and a bunch of motor work done to it. It runs great and is a really nice ride. But I dont think we will keep the bikes long before they are up for sale and replaced with 2-strokes.

Cost is much better. Weight is better. Fun factor is way better.

Thats just my opinion.

I started out on a 1971 SL70, this was roughly 33 years ago. However I was migrated to a 1978 YZ80, I have had dozens of 2 strokes over the years. YZ's/IT's/KX's/KDX's/CR's/presently RM250...

The entire 4 stroke movement is tied in with the 'environmentalist' it has NOTHING to do with nothing more than a religion/agenda... I read somewhere how Honda was doing its part with the environment. (GREEN socialist crap)...

Like several others have stated, this has hurt the sport, I don't care about sports drinks, commercial advertising about some MEGA-CORP selling power tools, good grief bring back the family oriented sport! The last thing I want to hear is another ad for some home improvement store or other crap. (Nascar-wrestling event)...

I signed a while back, I do not see anything changing, if anything I can see the EPA banning 2 strokes period. It is a religion now, just like the 'global warming' err... I mean 'climate change' if you refute it you are ignored.

If the 4 stroke bike was so wonderful, why are new Honda's sitting since 2009 on showroom floors? Even in a rough economy, the 2 strokes would still sell.

Just my thoughts, I have about had enough about this 'climate change' FARCE to make me sick. It is bankrupting small businesses with draconian regulations and laws the rest of the world do not acknowledge..... :foul:

It will change when the big 4 are stuck with $8500 4 stroke race bikes,
in warehouses not selling.

I am sure the economy will not help bike sales in general anyways, however the same as Washington ignoring the little people gets you voted out of office.

The AMA has set course, but it is not sustainable, no one is going to spend nearly $10000 on a bike and have to spend $2000-$3000 a year to keep it running.

It is just stupid.

I would *never* buy any 250F/450F used, the roll of the dice of what you would be buying without being able to see inside what is worn out/needs replacing plus the fact I don't want to have a MONEY pit with no resale.

The day the 2 stroke is banned by the EPA and/or other Environmentalist agenda groups, meaning no parts being produced then I will hang it up. By the the sport will be like infamous 'Nascar' with some BIG BOX home improvement sponsor or a small group and most people will careless. When you take out the privateer out of the mix and sell the soul of the sport to a soft-drink manufacturer if the ratings fall. The sponsor is history, they have NO stake in the sucess/failure of MX racing. It is just about ADVERTISING period.

I remember the big push for the BIG Sponsors, well the sport has them now, and it has went from an individual to a 'Monster Truck' event.

Just my opinion, like I said if the manufacturers cannot sell the product, it will tank period.

The day 2 strokes become banned WILL be the day that i make the trip from ohio to Washington DC and do a burnout right in front of the white house and congress. Screw the 4 strokes. The big 4 sell there 4 strokes cause they wanna make all the money on the people buying parts to rebuild em. I will stick to my $150 rebuilds once a year, rather than a couple grand. **** Corporate America.

Honda owns the AMA from what it sounds like to me, plus they are part of the 'Green' movement wanting to tax for carbon basically breathing....

The entire 'green socialist' movement is the biggest FARCE of the 21st century, if man can change the climate I guess earthquakes must mean the earth needs milk of magnesia....

With fuel prices continuing to rise and our 'leader' banning off-shore drilling you can forget about bike sells. The bike shops are hurting for business, most of the finance companies stopped financing them for instance Suzuki... One reason why they did not import any bikes into America for 2010 except for RMZ's and RM80.

Just my thoughts...

I have been wrong before but If I am not mistaken.. this ruling has been made and since has been improved in amateur racing. Its a CC for CC battle now correct?

This petition needs to be changed to allow for a 250cc two stroke class at all major events. Even if its as an "exhibition". THis will allow privateer riders to showcase their talents without the cost associated in competing with the factory teams.
Can we do the motos before the night show at SX? and in the morning before the show MX?

If you guys haven’t signed the two stoke petition already I would encourage you do so. It only takes two minutes to complete and it shows interest for two strokes in pro racing. There has already been dialog between the petition starter and the AMA. Link to petition below.

Signed it. BTW, I own a 4T KTM trail bike and I love it, but I would sell it and buy a 2T if I had the chance. I drive 2 hours or more to go riding, so I typically try to squeeze in a full day to make it worth the drive. Lugging a 250 lb 4T around for 5 hours is quite tiring. Having the same power out of a bike that weighs 40+ lbs less is a significant lure in my opinion. I'm not going to get into the whole AMA/ environmentalist debate becuase I truly don't know, but I wanted to thank KTM for sticking to their guns and continuing to offer a fine selection of 2T machines. Hopefully I will be owning one soon!
