The RV/sofa bed folds down even when everthing is loaded up, and my wife and me sleep very good. Both of use are around 5'8" and can stretch out. My wife like s this better than the truck we had, she can sleep on the way to and from the races (very peaceful driving :smirk:). We also drape screen over the the front doors, and shut the screen in the door, roll down the window and its just like sleeping in an rv ( no bugs ). I like the van with-out eny divider wall it seems more roomy, and as long as you turn off the gas and plug the gas cans up there is no fumes.

Nice job dude! FYI I bought these custom made mosquito net things, called Skeeter Beeter (or Beater, not sure which way they spelled it). They are made to fit the Express and attach with magnets to the door frame, pretty slick.

My next addition to the van will be to put a camper/conversion top on it. To gain so more head room and use more as just a camper if I wish. I can buy one new for around $1300. Also kicking around the idea of putting a Dana 60 under the front end for 4wd.

Thanks for the link, but I just made my own. It takes 2 people to do put them up but it works. I have my wife on the inside holding the screen and me on the outside as I wrap it over the top of the door, then shut the door pinching the screen around the door and Im good to go.

How do you attach the upper corners?

For the corners I just glued the carpet to some cardboard. Then tucked it under the ceiling and wall.

Well I talked about before, but now Im going to do it.
Today I ordered a camper top (Transit Top), it will give a inside hight
of 6'6", witch is tall enough for a bunkbed and still be able to pull my bike in.
Im going to move a few thing around in and the goal is to sleep 4 people with a trailer of toys, or 2 people with no trailer and toys (bike carriers front and rear). Ill post pics as I go.

I found the top on this www.sportsmobile.com site. They wont sell just the top so I scoutted around and found the company they use. There is also www.sportsmobileforum.com, and some people here have installed these them-self. The top is made here in Elkhart Indiana and the company is Summit Fiberglass. I will be installing it myself with the help of some friends.

Also there has been talk about what to insulate a motovan with, I used R13 house insulation, and this is what some convertion van companys as well.

Well Im back with some up grades to the MotoVan / Camper Van.
What do ya'll think, not finished but it will be! Interior hight is about 6'10" and
over outside hight is about 9' 10" . Plans are to build a fold out bunk in the back part (it would be like sleeping on the old roof , kinda thing)

Looks very nice. But it might be a witch to drive during a windy day on the highway. My family had an express conversion van and it was no fun in the wind and handled awful. That roof is probably another foot higher than the roof that was added to our van. Maybe it won't be as bad with an extended van with heavier chassis. I like the trash can idea.

Took the van on a 4 hour trip, half was Interstate and other was 2 and 4 lane highways. The van handled very well. On the way home we got into some rain and about 15-20 mph wind, you could feel it but was not uncontrolable. This was more a camping / MT bike / test tip, and it all worked out great. Temp was in the 30's at night (heated with a MR.Heater buddy MH9BX) and stayed nice and warm. I made a front hitch from a Suburban and mounted my bicycle rack up front, and a truck tool box on the back. Ill load some pics in a little bit.

Awesome van! I've been thinking about doing some more work to my van, but it's hard to make the commitment when your not sure if you want to keep it for too long, I would love a Sprinter or Ford transit!
Keep us updated with more pics!

Luke 928, who makes the camper top? This is a DIY job right? Do you have the new pictures?
