Anyone have a good source for these cans? What should I expect to pay for a can in decent shape?

I placed a bid on one in ebay and the seller cancelled the auction and all bids early. I guess he didn't like the way it was going as I was the only bidder at $9. I didn't know you could do that BS once an item has a bid.

Best way to find one of these cans is to scour craigs list from all of the major cities around you. Look for 01/02 gsxr 1000 bikes being sold. Most of them will list aftermarket exhaust as one of the upgrades. Email each seller you find and ask them if they have the stock can. I did this and found a brand spankin new can (taken off at the dealer) in a couple of days. Had it shipped and in my hand in 4 days total for 55 bucks. Its just extra junk to a gixxer owner just like our stock boat anchors are junk to us. I would bet you can find one anywhere from 50 - 150 bucks. I would have paid the upper and and was lucky to find one at the lower.

Good luck

I am in Australia and as far as I can see they are as rare as hens teeth. I just got lucky and won one on e-bay Aust. last night.

The following is from a post to the Oz and NZ DR650 thread that I have just put up.

Good luck with the hunting.

Gixxer cans are everywhere. This place is lousy with 'em. You've just got to know where to look.

Like mattheritage says, do a CL search, but be sure to click the 'titles only' button, not 'search entire ad', copy and paste this into the search window;

(2001|2002|01|02) gsxr 1000

For those not familiar with bolean operators, () isolates that part of the search criteria from the rest, and | or pipes represent the word 'or'. So the search engine will find any ads with any of those things in it.

Then go down the list and see who's still got their stock muffler around, usually sitting in a box somewhere with the gasket and nuts.

It took me 3 or 4 phone calls, 45 mins, and $50 to get one with 200 miles on it.

Good luck
Hope this helps

Got a line on one for $30 bucks taken off a bike shortly after it was driven off the lot. Hope it works out. Its a kid with no paypal account but he sounds legit. Thanks all for the tips and the great Craigslist search tool.
