Twin Air Powerflow kit for 2010

Has anyone tried the powerflow kit for the 2010 YZ450? I know that Valli motorsports has been testing the kit but wondered if anyone else has tried it. It modifies the air box and uses a cylinder shaped filter which looks like it has more surface area than stock and also more open space around the filter.

isnt dt1's filter the same design? a '3D' style vs a flat style? they do so cause they said it needs the added surface area to breath in more air flow. would love to hear from someone who has either system tho. some on track feedback is always a selling point

No, twin air's system doesn't use the stock filter cage/ screen etc at all. The filter is a long cylinder shape that starts at the bottom of the air box, just above the throttle body, and goes to the top.The air box has to be modified. I have a file with pics on it but I can't put that file on tt because it's not in a jpeg format.

I would also like to see some pictures of the DT1 factory filter set up. First read about it in MXA, but no pictures of the full system with cage - just the filter over stock cage. For $109 I would want to see pictures otherwise I'm planning on getting just the "over cage" filter. I do believe the 2010 would benefit on upper mid to top power if it could intake more air. Any disagreement? I know there is a thread all about air intake velocity and such...not talking ram air here...just the ability to suck air from a larger surface area just makes sense for the filter...not talking about the air box. Air box seems fine to me.

The air box and intake design is fine as is, but the filter itself clearly has less area than the older models. The question is whether it is enough smaller to present a significant restriction. My gut feeling is that it may be fine when clean, but with the smaller area means that it's going to get dirtier per square inch at a higher rate than the old filters did. That in itself means more dirt getting by the filter, and a more restrictive filter.

At some point it gets non-productive or even ridiculous, but with air filters, bigger is almost always better.

What's in the kit:

The stock air box off the bike, then disassembled. The summary is that the yellow air box in the first picture replaces the black box and connector elbow in the upper left of the third frame here (labeled Picture 2).

there just isn't much surface area at all for the stock filter set up, it amounts to not much more than the top of a normal filter on the earlier versions, you would think it has to have a negative impact on air flow...

I havent noticed or seen any dirt getting through my filters. if any has looks like you would see some dirt particles on the thin piece of foam underneath the the air filter.

My bike seems to breath just fine with the stock filter although the stock filter vs. the twin-air power flow the power flow may make it breath a little better but I wouldnt think enough to justify $109.00 to buy the Powerflow.

Maybe $50.00 and that would be pushing it. However i clean my filter after each race and each practice day and usually all the dirt on the filter is on the lower part of the air filter (the end that is not as wide) if it is really dusty at the track some may get on the middle of the filter.

either way I make sure i have a clean filter on.

I noted that the intake noise is considerably louder. I wonder if it is an indication of better flow? There is a lot more area on a DT-1 filter than the stock filter.

I seen on Pitt posses web-site where they had an over the cage air-filter.

By this I'm assuming the the cage that holds the stock filter down is put inside this filter and then the rod that holds the cage down is on top the filter.

are you running the full kit with their cage? or just there filter over ur stock cage? i read it in motocross action (i think?) that they liked it just not the price for the full 'race' kit. been thinkin of buying one, currently run a twin air filter
