Hi TT'ers
I'm looking at an 05 "Texas Edition" D Ram 1/2 ton quad cab w/96k miles. Everything looks good at this point.
How are these motors in terms of holding up? It looks like it has had light use to this point (and will have light duty with me). I'm looking for something that will last to 150k miles w/out major repair - is this a good risk from your experiences? Anything I should look for?
My mechanic will check it out but I figure there are some of you with opinions on this truck/motor.
Thanks for your help!

The 4.7 is a great motor. I have it in my Quad Cab Dakota.

I have 105K on the OD and have ZERO issues. I tow a toyhualer all winter long with it:thumbsup:

^^^ Mine has about the same mileage with zero problems, and I bought it when it had 45k on the clock. It's a good motor but somewhat weak in the Rams unless its a reg cab, well... much better than the 3.7 v6 anyways. For light duty it won't give you any problems at all

Thanks for the info. Engine was good but the rest of the truck was a little rough for the money. I ended up getting a Frontier with the 4.0.
