Guts Racing does a seat kit but not the extent of a Seat Concepts type.

I have no problem with the RMX’s seat as so far it seems like a stand-up-most-of-the-time bike to me - much like my former Husky 360; a real man’s bike! I wanted to kill 2 birds w/1 stone, having discovered the Seat Concepts seat contour at the rear of the knee, and StegPegs at the boots’ behind do pretty much the same thing. The Stegs suffice, as does the stock seat, which I may not use much at all.

Here is what I did today: added a Tusk-linkage guard with some modification via heat gun to form, and saber saw to shorten. What a pleasant surprise to find two mounting holes at the lowest frame member - just needed to drill and tap to M8 as they were too large to thread for M6 bolts. Bonus: the member faces slightly rearward, out of the way. And using it was better than drilling and bolting into the bottom of the Hyde skid plate, which would have added a lip and caught things - by my method, the lip is tucked under, and will not catch things. I was going to use flat heads but there was enough space for conventional-bold heads (10mm).

I smashed my knee up a little bit in July so I took a little break from riding. We've been having incredible weather the past week so I've been trying to get out as much as I can.

Bike is still running great at over 2800 miles. It's due for an oil change, an it my counter shaft seal is starting to leak a bit, so I have to take care of that, but I'm going to try an ride as much as I can this fall.

Grip warmers. Intercepted headlight positive and ran to switch-common pole. Tapped (piggybacked) headlight-ground conductors. Switch chooses between either 100% headlamp on; all off; or 100% (high) heaters. Low fuel-warning lamp removed and replaced with headlight/off/heated-grips switch.

Decided one level of heat is adequate for my normally cold hands, having used same setup on prior bikes. Tossed the kit’s resistor which, when installed per their instructions, acts as a waste load to produce effectively low heat at grips; that’s their original intent for their three-position switch.

Seeing the coil is 230W rated, the grip warmers could have been powered independently, if others prefer that route though I wouldn’t know where, having not looked into that as an alternate source from the headlamp circuiting.

Awesome. How do they feel?

Don’t know; I winterized the RMX due to all the snow we’ve been getting in Denver. Should I disconnect the battery?

I decided to take the Beta 200 on my trip south due to mostly single track planned for between Christmas and New Year’s Day. When loading up for the trip, the car’s display said minus 10-degrees F! Burr! Almost cancelled…

Rode with a former riding buddy in Las Cruces, NM (35 miles) then two others near Phoenix (yes: there’s excellent single track in AZ; 25 miles), and a third say near Bakersfield, CA (45 miles). Night before the latter, it had lightly rained, and my buddy had a new Dunlop mounted - the roost from his KTM 300 was consistently between one and three bike lengths! Wish I had a video cam.
