All,

In reading the YZ250F review in DirtBike mag, they talked about not riding the bike shortly after you have cleaned and freshly oiled the air cleaner. They claimed that the oil will get sucked passed the filter and clog some of the carb ports...and bike won't start.

Any truth to this?

Dave, I've seen many posts on this and it is true. I beleive the higher compression ratio of the high RMP 4-stroke may be factor. Just my 2-cents!

Heck yeah this is true...I had 2 times when my bike wouldnt start and I thought it was the jetting (which it wasnt on the 01' 426)...well guess what it turned out to be that I oiled the filter 1-3 hrs before I rode those days! Now I let my filters sit 12-24hrs before I ride (or the night before i ride) now I have no problems with start and run great at 162 main 42 pilot and 2 1/4 - 2 3/4 turns on the fuel screw (depending on how cold it is)! Hope this helps!

Garrett, your in Texas right? What altitude and temps? I live in Az and tried the recommended 45 pilot and 165 main and the bike feels fat. I haven't checked the plug but it always looked good with the stock jetting but I had alot of popping on decel. I think I am going back to the 162 main and maybe the 42 pilot also and just open the fuel screw more.

here in TX it is Flat (sea level) and the colded it gets is 32F and hottest is around 105F I tried the 48 pilot and 168 main it was way to rich and was throwing 2 ft flames out the back (on decel)! The 01' jetting seems to be spot on! I read on here (i think Hick posted it) that the needle is a richer needle this year and I guess you dont need to put new pilot and main etc! I guess time will tell on the jetting issue!
