hi,

I just put back together my 03 yz450 but cant get it to start, Timing im pretty sure is dead on but even bumping down a very big hill would not bring it to life.

One thing thats missing completely is the hot start cable and the carb just has a hole where you would screw a cable in. Would this stop it from starting cold??

And can you confirm this timing is correct.

Any other suggestions welcome also.

thx

Yes. If that's at TDC, it exactly right.

Yes. :) Can you say, "Massive air leak"? At minimum, you need the plunger, seal, spring, and nut.

ok That's good, so with the hotstart missing i definately wont beable to start it?
At least it must be the hot start that's stopping it going. Is there any way I could get it to go temporary untill the hotstart componants arrive? Like plugging the hole with a bolt?

You need those parts at minimum.

The hole the plunger goes in is intersected by a passage coming in from the slide well and by another running down from the plunger bore to the carb throat behind the slide. Those are the two holes that need to be blocked off, not the one in the top.

also check tdc in relation to the flywheel. Be sure to check it with a flashlight and use both eyes cause its easy to be 1 tooth off.
