Removing front Axle

Figured I could just live with out it.

Ok, just kidding!

How do you get it to release from the left fork??
I removed the caliper. Trying to install a Devol disc guard.

If I am understanding what it is you are trying to do - the way I remove my front axle is to loosen the four 10mm nuts that capture the axle on the one side just enough to allow the axle to spin. Then a 17mm socket on the axle and back it out. Righty tighty lefty loosy :)

Thanks!! We finally guestimated that it was theaded based on the 17 on the plate side. Came out pretty easy.
