My first bike was a 68 Hodaka Ace 100. I was 8 years old, purchased it brand new and could not touch the ground with both feet. If I remember right it was $409 with a helmet (bell), googles and gloves. I only had $400 cash so I had to borrow $10 from my dad that I had to pay back and the interest was extra chores for a year (interest was high in those days). My first stop at the gas station was a hoot too! I had a pint of oil so I put in 2 1/2 gallons of Premium (Leaded) and bought a drink and still got change back from my dollar! Wow who new we would be paying 2, 3 and 4 dollars a gallon for regular (87? octane). I eventually took the lights off and added a down pipe and K&N filter. Changed the gearing to 14/50 if I remember right and put some knobbies on it. I had the bike into the 80's and sold it for $200 to a friend. The crank case had a cracked screw boss for the left crank cover and I took the engine completely apart to weld it. The gears and shafts looked and tested almost like new. I had 12,800 miles on the clock and those had been hard learning miles for me my brother and a few of my friends. I even taught my dad how to ride on that Hodi! Wish I never sold it. I had a Super Rat, a Wombat and a Thunderdog in succession! Oh those where the days!
mundo... in my shop i have a basket case 69 ace 100b..... has been there forever...
would sure like to see it go to a good home... like yours ??????

Loved that thing, rode the hell out of it, the gas tank would crack over and over again at the bottom weld near the petcock.
Sorry that I sold it when I joined the Navy. Would still like to have one again just for fun.
