With the op to be clear. We have been disputing about how often I change my oil. I use silkolene 10w-40 (non synthetic) and change it every 5hrs. He thinks i can let it go way past 10hrs. Maybe with a quality synthetic id let it go 8hrs at most. I try to explain to him about how the transmission does not have separate oil from the rest of the engine. But he thinks it doesnt matter. He also claims that hes had the same oil in his ktm250sx since 20hrs ago and nothing is going to happen to his transmission.

Well, there's one in every crowd, as they say. If you really want to decide the matter, send off a sample of his oil, (or yours, for that matter) to Blackstone Labs at the next oil change. When you get it back, look at the measured viscosity at 212 degrees F.

I liken arguing with people like that to wrestling with a pig to teach it a lesson. You'll get beat up and dirty, and the pig will have a good time, but he won't learn a thing.

its not even 5 hrs before each change. its like 2. unless you ride road that much that it equals 5. all i know is every time i ride with him he has to change his air filter and his oil before. its every single time.

in my mind its way overdoing. especially when he complains about money for the track

It's his bike, and his money. How 'bout you let him do what he wants, and I won't tell you what I think of the idea of posting under false pretense or running the same oil in your bike since August?

You guys can take this whole argument somewhere else.

I run a rekluse and a built engine. I run rotilla T. I try to change every 3 hours. Its nasty and metalic looking at 3 hard hours. I also run a washable stainless filter. Rotillas cheap. $12 a gal. Like gray said differnt strokes for different folks.

Can someone please tell me if theres an oil screen to clean on the yzf?I dont see anything in the manual.

Well you asked if i was annoyed.... No worries the argument will be taken to the track with some aggressive one on one racing.
