High Comp Piston with Stock Rod

I had heard rumors that the stock rod on the 06 to 09 yz 450 isnt stong enough to run a high compression piston. Just seeing if anyone has had any issues with this. I am rebuilding a 450 and want to get some more power out of it, as well as top end. any advise?
