David, It'd be fun if you could make it. Chris will be there. Next week I'll be riding the Buzzards race at Cherry Creek. The weekend after that, I'd like to get back up on the Stansbury trail.

Mrmoto (Eric) - If you ride the Stansbury Trail next weekend let me know. Never rode it before. Are the trails up there pretty tight? I'll be out at Five Mile Pass tomorrow for a few hours.

Rockin' on!! Riding today with Eric was great. We might do the stansbury trail next weekend. Eric is thinkin that it might be too hot to go to the race, so we may end up going riding next weekend too. Saturday with Eric, sunday with Danny. Sweeeeeet. :)

Dezrider,
In a few places, the trails are pretty tight. 90% of it is single track. There are a couple of really tight switchbacks that I can make about 50% of the time. You don't want to know what happens the other 50% :) .. no shame on the tight corners pushing the bike around. Other than that, it's a very scenic, fun ride. I may ride Stansbury this weekend or next. All depends on the weather. If it's not too hot this weekend, I'll be riding the Buzzards race at Cherry Creek. Either way, you're invited, I'll make a decision on Tuesday when I'll be riding Stansbury.

Eric - Let me know next time you go riding. I might have to put the Big Red Pig on a diet for those tight trails. :) How was Cherry Creek?

Dezrider,

Your 650 should do well I have seen many up there at stansbury.

Eric, Chris, dezrider...,

Rode Stansbury yesterday. Trail is getting loose and rocky in spots and is looking even narrower with the vegetation grown in. The trail was slightly torn up in the rocky areas where the unfortunate droped down the hill. Ground was crawling with those giant Mormon Crickets. To make a long story short the Dunlops on the WR have to go! It is scary when your bike is sliding everywhere and you only have a foot or two of trail to slide on before the drop off. Anyway, did 2 round trips on the north end (36 miles total) starting from South Willow Creek Road.

Ok, never mind. We'll go on sunday, and if I can't find anybody who is riding all day saturday, I'll go with you saturday evening as well. :D Any idea where you want to go yet? :D

Hey Chris,
Come down to the Cherry Creek race and ride sportsman class with me. Sign-up starts at 9:30am and the race starts at 11:30am. Weather should be a cool 80 degrees. Perfect.

You want to ride it like a trail ride? I just went to the gym and hit my legs pretty good so they will be tired. I am absolutely not going to push it, but if that is the only riding I'm going to get in on, I'll go. Give me a call on my cell at 556-8082, and we'll hook up at the race. I need to know how much money to bring too. Rock on!

Chris :)

Hey Chris,
Sorry I missed your message. The race went great. I came in around mid-pack (sportsman class). Some fast sections, some technical sections, and about 30 miles of whoops. I'll have to keep racing and work myself up to the front of the "slow" guys :). If you're interested, I'd like to ride the stansbury trail this Saturday.

Went up American Fork Canyon this weekend. Still some drifts above 9000' but ridable. Met up with 2 other riders and started out with a nice ride. On the way back we tried a loop and ran in to some nasty sections warranting a turn around and resulted in an extra hour or more in the saddle.

This was my second time up there and there are really some trail design problems in areas. Also the Uinta National Forest must not believe in trail markers because there are none in many areas and it gets a bit confusing. You would think that with all the money they rake in from the entrance fees they could put up some signs and work on the trails a bit.

Hey Eric! I must have beat you then. I finished second about 30 seconds behind first in the sportsman class. I had fun, but I wasn't up to par. Friday I decided that I didn't want to go, so I went to the gym and did some heavy weight training with my legs. Then I decided to go after all, slept for about 4 hours, forgot my camelback, and raced anyway. I was REAL tired at the end of that loop. :D

I'll see you saturday!!

Chris - glad you did well at the race. Funny I didn't see you. I guess I really wasn't looking too hard since there were only around 12 people in the sportsman class. I'm going to see if I can't get a 2-3 more people riding Stansbury with us on Saturday. The more the merrier :)

Chris -

Here's the directions to the Stansbury trail. Make your way to Grantsville either from I-80. Just barely out of Grantsville on Hwy 138 (northwest of town) there is a road called Max Canyon Road heading west. Let's meet at 10:00am right at the Max Canyon Road and Hwy 138 intersection. Here's a map to get you to Grantsville (hope the picture works)... <img src='http://www.dsidata.net/stansburytrail.gif'>

Or click on this link:

I'll have my cell phone with me 801-836-5246.

AWWW SHUCKS!! I didn't realize that saturday was the 14th. I thought that was friday. I already promised to attend a pro-access ralley on that day. I'll be able to go in the afternoon, but not before about 2:00. If you can wait for me I'd be grateful, or maybe you could come to the ralley also and then we'll go riding. Let me know. thanks

Chris
