Make this thing turn

I have an '03 wr450. I just got a yz 125. I have to say that thing is a freakin blast.

I swapped around last weekend and I felt like I had to hang from the bars to make the WR turn after riding the YZ.

I don't want to make the WR an unstable tank slapping monster, but can I slide the forks up a bit and make it turn a bit quicker?

Yes, slide them up 13mm or 1/2" make sure they are the same. then set race sag to 105MM in the rear with all your gear on.

Then get yourself a softer front tire like a Maaxis SI or a Michelin or a dunlop.

This will help but it will never turn like little YZ

Yep, the 125 will always feel like a bicycle.

As others have stated, set your rear sag (http://www.tootechra...ension_tips.htm) and slide the fork tubes up at a starting point of about 4mm (6mm is .25 inches).

If you set sag at 100mm and raise the forks only to change the rear sag to, say, 102mm, you MAY need to change the forks slightly if you are experiencing understeer (and headshake) or oversteer (slow steering). It's a nice balance for front and rear.

Also check your tire pressure and riding position for that big ol' WRF. Have fun!

I took me a little while to get my wr to turn based on my neutral position riding style.

1. set the sag to 100.

2. drop those forks about 3/4 inch.

3. stiffen the rear compression or go up one size on the spring.

4. set up very early for the turn, pick your butt up off the seat and put the crack of your but on the outside of the seat just before turning.

5. Carry just a little more momentum. Place a lot of weight on the outside peg and just lean that pig over. Don't worry, it will stick.

My wr turns now. Keep in mind that I'm not he best or most confident rider around corners. But it works.

Stay off the 125 and other peoples bikes for a while and come to terms with its a big heavy bike. I can barely lift my bike on a stand. [/COLOR]

What was the significant feel for the e-axle? I've looked into it, offers +/- 2 degrees. It's 500 clams for an offset clamp set. Do you use YZ wheel spacers when eliminating the speedo drive? Guess you'd spend the remaining $ buying a Vapor or something rounding out the total to a set of clamps? Just trying to get an idea because I ride in the FL sandbox and slow tech riding taxes me wrestling this beast. Thanks.
