pump the rear tire up to streetbike pressure(35-38psi)make sure the tech is sitting right on the rear fender to help stop wheel slip on the drum.im not sure if you can use an afr probe on a 2smoke but if you can use it.

Ready to go. Road tyre fitted. Clean filter and pipes loaded. Box full of jets and a tank of fresh fuel. Even cut side panel for quicker pipe changes. Not long now my friends.:thumbsup:

Some Tasters. I have passed the full data set to Roland to have a good trawl through and do some comparisons. Sadly I did not actually have a true shorty to test so not sure what the effect would be of that. Maybe between myself and Roland we can have a seperate area to publish some of the better comparisons. All power figures are at rear wheel, 4th gear runs, pulled from approx 3K rpm. Most pipes had 2 or 3 runs to ensure consistency, repeats were within 0.5hp between runs.


Myths Busted ( I think ).

1. Longer pipes make more top end.
2. The PC pipe has no bottom end power
3. The stock pipes are the best.
4. Spending that much money on pipes was worth it..(Personal one)

Stock 05 vs 06 front pipe. Std 05 silencer.(06 is red)

No. Did not live check AF ratio. I would think that with the right pipe (DEP or FMF Factory Fatty) with a slightly leaner main it could be possible to break 45whp and smooth that dip out. Intersting is if you look at DEP's own published graph you can see the same. I am totally shocked to see anything like what is claimed. I honestly expected to leave the day with a love for the stock pipes.

Confirms my opinions on the DEP vs PC pipe. Thanks for the info, did the HPI ignition retard the timing?

For a set of bolt ons. The DEP pipe with the HPI ignition shows some real gains at the top end compared to standard 06 pipe and silencer/ignition combo. Next step for me would be to take the torque part of the HPI program and merge into the power part. That would bring back part of the loss at the low end. Pretty good for a stock motor.:thumbsup:

Good stuff Stimps.

Many are put off by the PC pipe feeling its soft on the bottom. But in reality its just a smooth pipe and you can see that on the dyno.

I have ridden both the PC, stock and FMF fatty back to back. The fatty is a impressive pipe, very strong, the pc takes its time and hooks up best when its slick and stock is a blend of the 2.

One thing the 4 strokes have shown me is "controllable power" is the fastest way around the track, not a big hit and lots of peak HP, but a big hit can sure be fun at times.

Myth busted haha! ---- the 2005 stock pipe is better than any 2006 and up stock pipe, as some of us have opined in the past! :thumbsup: ....Another guy here at Yami 2T also felt the same way that it hit harder than the '06, and was he right! :lol: :thumbsup:
