Can't say much about 'em in their stock condition.... only ones I've rode with were heavily modified and boosted.  One burned down about 20mins into a ride.  The others always had some problem or another, and appeared to handle more like a trail sled than a mountain machine.

The 4 stroke Phizzer is pretty anemic compared to most sleds today.  Only about 80hp in stock trim.  I've never rode one, but I did ride with someone on one once.  He tipped it over on a hill and spent the next 30 minutes trying to tear it apart to make sure he hadn't lost too much coolant.  It was upside down for a total of about 20 seconds.

they aint to bad of a machine. Enough power. I was really surprised when i took my phazer in a field with 30 inches of snow and it actually went some where!

phazers are fun and ya they only have 80hp but there stiff pretty really fast for a 80hp sled. They need a 1-1/4" track.. the stock 1 incher sucks. other than that there fun. I wouldent recomend a turbo. I've heard nothing but bad things about boosted phazers... but they may not be as bad as I've heard

get a used nytro . phazers are cool sled but personally i would go for the nytro 50 more hp and barely any more weight , the reliability difference is also huge . if your not buying it new get a nytro .

I disagree. I have ridden the nytro, apex, and phazers all on the same day at a dealer demo we had. The nytro was so unstable at high speed it was scary. It would get this killer death walk and start swapping out if you went very fast at all on rough trails. Also was very unstable on the rough things and wanted to tip. Phazer on the other had road like a dream and would not wobble and felt VERY stable. Also it only has 80hp but it felt like 120 compared to my Polaris edge x 500 I had at the time. Very nice machines and would recommend. Apex was a big slug. Slower accel that the nytro by far and if you flipped it and didnt weight 250+lbs then good luck getting it back over. Over all if taken care of engine will WAY outlast the machine on all yamahas sledsthey at least got that right)

i found the phazers handling was chaotic and unpredictable . the xtx's rtx nytro's had weird handling i cant say much of them since i have a mtx with totally different geometry . there problem basically came down to the skis on those models . i ditched my stock skis pretty fast in favor of simmons gen 2's

any yamaha needs modifications . its a yamaha for some reason they dont like to put them out perfect from factory . ive thought about a phazer for my girl friend but im undecided . you can pick them up cheap used . 3500 - 4000 $ usually .

ya and the dont cost much new either. All of the ones I rode were MTX clutched for 8000 feet. But that was the verdict. I do know there was a way to FIX the nytro so that it wasn't so unstable but dont remember how. Also the new ones after 2009 are "FIXED" from the factory.

People shaved 2 mm off the balljoints or bought new skiis i believe .
