Red Riders,

I saw over on the DRZ side where the Yeller Fellers were putting one like this together.

I think we can improve upon it to benefit new XR4 owners.

We'll be able to send them here via the search function.

Please include all the header information such as:

1.Rider weight, height and age
2.Location and type of terrain/riding conditions
3.Elevation
4.Mods

Team Burk Thanks You as well as all future XR4 owners! :)

I have mentioned this and it should be part of everyone's Bio  to be filled out, so when questions are asked, we can look up the info on the person, and steer them in the right direction, based on where they are, where they ride,... This will take me some time, but I will fill it out.

1. 185 lbs., 6'0". 38 years OLD!(28 at heart)

2. Southern California. Adaptable to all terrain except for street use. Love slow technical stuff as much as wide open desert.

3. "C" level to about 5,000 ft.

4. Mods:
   440 with std. compression.
Stock carb jetted at 158(main) 68(pilot)clip on 3rd position.
   IMS 4.0 Tank.
   Ground header pipe welds.
   Pro Circuit T-4 Muffler.
   Renthal Bars.
   Hot Start.
   Trail Tech Computer.
   Spider Grips.
   Compression release removed.
Hinson Clutch Basket with Barnett Plates, Discs, and Springs.
   Snorkle removed.
   UNI Filter.
   IMS Pegs.
   IMS Shifter.
   Acerbis Plastic all around.
14/48 with DID Non O-Ring Chain( 15 and 45 sprockets as spares).
   IMS Tank and Swingarm Graphics.
   Ceet Seat.
   Works Connection Frame Guards.
   Scotts Chain Guard.
   Excell Wheels.
   Dunlop 756(F) 773® Tires.
   Scotts Tool Bag.
   Welded Lower Frame.
   Acerbis Pro Rally Hand Guards.
   THUMPERTALK.COM Fender Stickers.
   XR's Only Oil Temp. Dipstick.
   Pee Wee Herman Doll.
   etc.

Likes to be either on or off with the throttle. Front end spends more time in the air than anticipated. Reliable. Will go anywhere, and up anything. Perfect bike for me...for now, but don't tell it that!

160 lb rider, 47 years old, ride at least 2 days a week, some WOT 2x, lots of Sx, some are trials like. Lots of boulders, ruts, etc.

Front tire Pirelli M16 or Mich S12
Suspension complete setup by Barnum's Pro Products front and rear (9.0kg/mm shock spring)and fork revalve and shim stack mods. Absorbs stuff that would have crashed and hurt me I am sure. Best money I've spent!
Uni air filter
Edelbrock Quiksilver pumper carb (tried stock and the Mikuni pumper first)bought from Barnum's
White Brothers header and E Series, s bend (good for low to mid end response, scarifices some top, but great for what we do)
rear tire: Bridgestone m402,
416 piston, 10:5-1 compression
Barnums speedo take off spacer
3 angle valve job
Cleaned up ports
Barnums mid range cam
All motor work and suspension work by Barnums
Lots of scratches...

14/47 best compromise for our area
Renthal CR bend bars
Wacker handguards
Spyder grips
Heavy duty tubes, front,rear
Hands free cell phone
Garmin e trex Vista
no decals
rocket deployed emergency parachute system, (just in case) :D

180lbs (lost 15 since Jan)
5'10 26 years old Brown hair Brown eys.
I like long walks on the beach and playing love songs on my guitar.

Ride a varity of trails- tight muddy single track to groomed woods trails to wide open sand trails.  I ride 1000-1500 miles a season in Minnesota/Wisconsin.  Mean elevation is 1200'.

Not in any order:
Renthal bars
MSR hand gaurds
Acerbeis HP high/low light with red running light
Acerbeis Black plastic
Factory FX tank stickers
Acerbeis Front disc cover
IRC VE35 front mud tire
IMS oil line gaurd
Stock jets
FMF Power Core 4Q
Twin Air filter
Snorkle removed (nylon sock covering the opening)
RK X-ring
Sprocket Specialist SX 47 tooth rear
titax front stock tooth
Maxxix Maxxcross 120/100 IT rear tire
Heavy duty tubes
Rear disc fin gaurd (unknown brand)
LED 1157 rear tail light (will not break $6 at auto store)
Piston shaped tire valve covers

She's got a stock engine but uncorked.  The gearing lifts the front end in third with no extra pulling up.

I love to work on it and keep it clean and lubed.  Change the oil and filter every 2-3 rides.  Just changed from HP4 to Amsoil Syn(havn't changed the oil yet).

You can't explain to someone who doesn't ride the feeling it gives you.   :)

I think this is a really good idea. However, I think it would be much more effective if everyone's information could be viewed in tabular/database form. There are a lot of us with the same bike, but with very different setups, riding styles, and riding locations (elevations). How cool would it be to look at a table and be able to look up "I ride at 5000', have done Gordon mods, have such-and-such pipe and I want to know what jetting works"?. Then, a glimpse at the "table" and see 5 riders have the same setup and use these average jettings for that bike setup and elevation.
Anybody think this may be a good idea or have any ideas how to implement it?
Just my thoughts... :)

I think it is a good idea, but with the differences in riding areas, and styles, I don't think there would be a repeat anywhere in the list. It might get too wide with all of the other variances as well, but if it means that it would veer people from that Pee Wee Herman Post, then I'll support your cause 100%!

Rider: Intermediate; 225 lbs., 6'1", 40 years old.

Where: NW Illinois; everything from tight, slimey woods to
euro grasstrack MX and anything else you can imagine.

How high: 850 to 1000 ft. elevation

Mods: An airbox that breathes!
     HRC hop-up kit
     White Bros. E-Series exhaust
Moose Competition levers - you need these!
Scott grips - glued & wired
Baja Designs lighting (55 watt numberplate only)
Enduro tech guards (plate, bars, frame)
     One Industries plastic
     BelRay 10wt. Fork Oil
     Amsoil syhthetic engine oil
     Motion Pro HD clutch cable
15/45 sprockets for MX; 15/48 for woods

Mr XR is more playbike than racer.  But it does come out a few times a year when the Vintage racers are parked.  All the bike needs now is someone who can ride it better than me!  :)

Hey Guys lets try to  FOCUS here. The idea was to put together in the format we have available to us a data base to benefit new owners. Not to stray off into lala land. :D

Philthy,

The reason the header information was requested was so people could browse down thru the posts until they see something that applies to them such as location/elevation and so on. If someone has a better way of doing it with what we have available to us here, then share it. But we must keep the posts as data entries only.

Sorry for the scold, just trying to bring it back around before we end up talking about who knows what. :)

It's good that these posts create an interest and spur more conversation between us, lets just take questions and comments to a new post. Thank You. :D

Team Burk:

Humor is good, most of us take life and ourselves to seriously. There is a lot of great information in this post mixed with a little fun. Don't stiffle it because a little fun is mixed in with a lot of good info.

Respectfully suggested,

RH

Ps. Besides if you don't you could become the object of a lot of black humor.... :)
