Hmm what year is your bike mines an 08 im wondering if it will fit an 08, also how long ago did you order yours? did you order online or call them? and lastly was it relatively easy to install?

Thanks,

i believe 03-08 are the same. online ordering payed with paypal.
i would guess that they would be sold out by now, since bbr stopped making them. got it around september 09.

I've tried to find one also without success.  I tried several distributors and they all indicated that they were sold out and that BBR was no longer producing them.  BBR thought they might have a blem lying around for me but it was not to be. Maybe if enough of us contact them they might feel there is enough of a market to make production worth their while.

Yes, If they head from enough people wanting them the frame cradles might go back into production. I spoke to the Brown brothers (BBR) last weekend at the Dealer Expo trade show. They dropped the DRZ125 cradle due to low sales numbers. It sounded like most of the cradles they ever made were actually sold through our shop (ProCycle).

Hmm sounds like if you put in an order for maybe 5 of them (dealer pricing maybe)  from BeamishNZ
You wouldn't need to bother the Brown brothers with such an odd low volume item.  :ride:

Certainly if ProCycle wanted to order 5 I'd be happy to do the drawings and get them made up.  At the moment I think I have 4 confirmed enquiries so another 5 would get it close enought to the magic 10 to make it worthwhile.

Come on ProCycle, I'm sure you can unload five of these... please?

I would not mess around with only 5. Maybe 20 or 25 to start with.
BUT...  For it to be really worthwhile for us we would need some a reliable supply of more when those are gone. That's what I was talking to Chris and Brent Brown about. Not just making some more cradles but continuing production.

25? I think Beamish needs someone to pick his jaw off the floor. At least if I were him, I'd need someone to do that for me.

I'm talking with Jeff at ProCycle off line and we will get something sorted.  Once I have done the drawings and made up a jig on going supply is not an issue.

I'll keep you all updated.  We will make it happen. :ride:

Hey what's my commission for lighting a fire under this deal ? :ride:

I'd order one but I've already bought a used BBR.  I'm betting the NZ product might be nicer than the BBR :ride:

Not to throw a wet blanket on this...

I'm not an economics major, by any means, but I'm sure we're looking at some sort of import/export duty or excise... anybody looked into this?

I would think a statement about being for personal use and not resale may be in order.  In that case 5 at a time would make more sense than 25.

I'd say "product samples", but I can't imagine customs would be too big of a deal for someone who's done it before.

Perhaps find someone you trust (like procycles), ship them all to him and we can then have them split to the rest of us to ease the customs problem?

I'd be interested in one (i.e. frame cradle) for my daughters 2007 DRZ125L.  Don't know how much BBR charged for them.

I'll look into that.  Not sure at this stage what the trade arangements are between NZ and USA but if not 'Free Trade' can't assume it would be that punative.

Hopefully we wil be able to retail them at around the $200 mark which is what BBR used to supply them for, but we need to nut out all the costs for a small production run including shiping and any import tax implications.  Hopefully be in a position to finalise things during next month.  Watch this space!

Lot of water to go under the bridge before I plan my holiday in the Caribbean! :ride:

Thanks for the thumbs up on quality.  Yep they will be great quality but I've got to say that the BBR ones were actually very well made.

Be careful here.
The Thumpertalk police don't take kindly to discussions about making and selling parts. They view it as direct competition and will delete posts or whole threads

That's very boring of them!  Thankfully I've rarely (if ever) seen any pleasure police on this section of the forum ... and rarely any need for them ... where's Hackmunch gone??? LOL

It is getting there.  Drawings are done and prototype briefed out.  Should have it back in a couple of weeks so can test fit and check everything perfect before pressing the button for 'mass production' ! I'll keep you posted
