Where did Yamaha pick up the extra 18lbs in one year. I noticed as I have been looking at older yzf450s they weigh in at around 220 dry and the 09s are listed at 238. What is the deal here??

They weigh the same. 09 listed weight is wet vs. 08 dry.

I just looked again and noticed that one is wet and one is dry. I thought it seemed odd that there was that much of an increase. Thanks

When a manufacturer uses dry weight, they mean dry dry; no gas, no oil, no coolant, no fork oil, nothing. That's why the difference is so great.
