yz426 power

got a mate at work says his yz426 2001 is pushing out 86 bhp:lol:, now i know nothing about yz's at all, i have a drz400 and know tunning one of these up to 55-60bhp takes an awsome amount of money and tunning parts, so is he talking out of his butt??? what sort of power are they standard and what sort of top power can you safely get out of them when tunned,

Safely around 75-80 bhp. :banghead: Just kiddin.... I think around 50 is the factory value.

Your mate is the one pushing something out, and it ain't HP. :banghead:

I thought I read 57 stock???

Nope. Not at the rear wheel. On average, the reliable dyno readouts I've seen say about 47 in stock form. I think a couple of the engine geniuses here have gotten flat track 426's up around 54 in the past.

Any numbers remotely resembling 80 would have to be measured directly at the crank, without being connected to a transmission.

i don't think they will get 80 even if they're measuring BHP.
