yz 426 cam swap

i have 2001 yz 426 it has the stock exhaust cam heard you can swap with a 450 o get the auto decompression will a cam from a yfz450 quad work and are the chains the same

You don't want the one from the quad, it's the same as the WR and the timing is retarded 1 tooth.

It's actually advanced, but you're right, you don't want that one. Your best bet these days is an Aftermarket auto decompression cam from Hot Cams or similar. Using an OEM Yamaha 450 cam, you'd want one from an '03-'05 YZ450, and use the special timing procedures in this thread:

a buddy has one from the bike and its free but if its a pain to install should i just buy the hot cam

You can use that one. Just read and understand the timing instructions carefully.
