I'm betting you had a Hyosung rod or TRX200SX rod with a CBR150 piston. Good to know there's others out there playing with the first gen.
With your shock problen, theres a few solutions. First and cheapest is the Suzuki LT230 shock, which is less than a 1/4" longer and bolts right up.
Second and probably best is the Works Performance steel gasser shock. They custom build them to your weight, but are costly at $500 a pop.
Third, and most difficult is locating an 82-84 RM250/465/500 swingarm and fabricating a new rocker, new connecting triangle rod and find a shock to fit your resulting needs. I did it and its a pain in the ass at best, horrifyingly difficult at worst.
