how to check crank phasing

have a 2007 skidoo summit x 800 and need to know how to check for a twisted crank

best way to check it with the crank still in the motor is to attach a degree wheel for reference and use a dial indicator to check top dead center on each cylinder and at what angle on the degree wheel they each coincide with. The should be ver close to 180 degrees apart from each other.

so one piston is at tdc and the other one should be the farthest it can go down right

yeah pretty much, there's always a tiny bit of tolerance involved but ideally you want exactly 180

ya must have twisted it pretty good there isnt much difference between the two piston but about a inch

they are that close to each other?

like ones at TDC and the other is only an inch down the bore?

ya thats what i thought the dang things still runs though very rough idle and backfires like no other plan on tearing it apart this weekend
