I just bought a 99 yz400f which is in good condition. My question is can i add engine components from a 03 yz450f to my new bike? The main thing I want to add is the updated cam which have the auto decompression lever. If i can what do i do with the decompression lever and cable on my bike?

You didn't look at the Common Threads Sticky. Things have changed a little bit over the years since '03, though, and the after market cams for the earlier engines from Hot Cams make a better choice from the standpoint of fit and ease of installation, now that the prices have come more into line.

Yeah, the YZ cam price went up and the Hot Cams came down. Not much in it anymore, unless you have an in with one or the other.
