I miss my 430xc when I see this. Although I didn't miss how it lost brakes while riding in the wet for awhile.

Brakes? What BRAKES??? Just kidding! I still ride this bike a couple times a year, allthough not when wet, I do remember when, after crossing water, you had to "ride the brakes HARD" to try to burn off the water, to have BRAKES.. :moon: ....Kinda gives new (old) meaning to good brake control. best wishes   phillybeef

And me just trying to do a dirt roost before loading the bike up to leave. I never rode without a helmet, although this picture does sort of prove me a liar in this case.

It seemed like a simple thing to do, get from where I'm at to where I need to be and to leave no trace. BUSH WON! While I dangled unbalanced (unseen here), friend coming to help, I hope, 5bikemike@myspace stops, walks up and takes this picture and starts to walk away, I had to yell for help.

I talked to my dad tonight. We're gonna look and see if he has any pics from back in the 70s. I hope I'll be able to contribute in some way.

This shot (phillybeef jump) was taken during the 1990 Virginia City Grand Prix. I had a great battle with with a guy named Matt on an 82' 430XC and me on my 82 430WR. Every time the coarse opened up Matt would catch and pass me, and like wise when the coarse tighten up, I'dd catch and pass Matt. Well there's more open than tight at the VCGP so matt finished ahead of me. That Saturday night, after the race I talked to Matt at the Bucket of Blood Saloon, Matt said he thinks he got first place and I (phillybeef) got second place! I was super pumped to finish so well.... Well about a month later we received the printed results and low and behold I beat Matt by 8 seconds (in adjusted time) to win our class (vintage Evolution)!

Just so this thread doesn't end up as a total sausagefest, I thought I post a picture of my kid sister on my RM back in the early eighties.

Trying to find a way to convert Tif images to jpeg so I can post a pick of me 30 years ago on my Yz80 in full leathers. For you kiddies,....:prof:back in the day you didn't have "riding gear", you had what was refered to as "leathers". You put on your leathers, got on your elsinore and pulled off a wicked "crossup".:moon:
