We used to sit in those grandstands to watch "The" San Jose Mile dirt track Nationals.
These pics are from the local "Endurothon" (2 hours long marathon races).

Below, behind me, you can see the banked, mile dirt track, turns 1-2.

When the AMA decided not to use the under/over bridge anymore at supercross races (late 80s or early 90s I think) , we got to use that very same bridge.

Had to add the under/over bridge picture

This guy here, is an extreme rider as he road our our 210 mile, dual summit, (Mt Diablo, Mt Hamilton in the SF bay area) dual sport ride. An all urban and back country road ride. Not only did he ride this bike he built it, custom, like you see here.

Awesome thread PhillyBeef.
It was a nice trip down memory lane and unfortunately I have no photos from my youth to share. Great memories though and my son loves hearing the stories on our truck rides to the MX track.

Thank you.....

Hey mihylo33, we'd all like to hear some of those Old school stories, why don't you tell one here?..... You tell one (the one your son gets the biggest laugh from).... and I'll tell one, okay?

hahaha....
They are not as funny as they are sad. Since everything pertains to where a shopping mall is now located or a condominium complex. My riding areas have been wiped out for the last 10 or so years.:ride:

I write something up later and post it.:ride:

timbostet, WOW, I knew there were some of these out there, but, we connected, timboset you "are the MAN" and I'm Glad to meet you. I saved about 4 or 5 MC belt buckles (from my youth), some given as gifts.

We would help the promoter before, during and after the San Jose Mile events and this gave us full access during the race, so Robby Y. shot some unusual angles in the 3rd and 4th corners.

In the pic below, you can see some sort of transition point, there's a thin shadow on the left side (inside corner) and it's pointing straight at a small, maybe 3 to 4 foot wide section accross the track, where they go from decelerate to accelerating (I think).
