I have a 09 Summit 146 carberated engine(500SS) it is probably one of the few old school engine left available from Skidoo.
I installed a set of Boyesen Rage Cages and the throttle response is incredible from 5000 rpm and up on the lower end if you roll on the throttle it runs smooth but,if I snap from idle to thumb to the bar the machine bogs.
I am at 700 ft above sea level and thats about it (there are no mountains only little hills) I have jetted for sea level to 2000 ft and -20 to -40 main jet @430 I feel that I may need to adjust the needle to improve the bottom end response. I was out yesterday and the temp was only -5 C today is a little cooler -15 and I wil see how it runs today. Plugs were slightly wet and the tips were light brown the base and threads dark almost black (rich)?
Has anyone installed the Rage Cages and did they need to adjust any jetting on the carb?
PS the sled had no problems on the bottom end before the rage cages.

Well, I'd say that your probably getting a little rich on the bottom end due to the firmer reeds, but can't say for certain. I would try turning in your fuel screws a little, go a 1/4 turn at a time and see if it clean up. If it gets worse, open them up a 1/4 turn at a time. Keep track of where your at from where they are to start with.

If that doesn't help you can try dropping your needles but that is more in that 5000 RPM range than at the very bottom/off idle.

thanks I give the fuel screws a try.  The temp being cooler today added to the sleds preformance being better!!!
