Hmm, sounds different than I remember; there have been a lot of different code versions over the years, though.

Yeah, that's just what the current MSnS-E code has. I remember getting irritated that there seemed to be a new code version out every week. It's different now, though; new MS-I Extra code hasn't been released for some time. The development effort seems to be shifting toward MS-II.

Because you are doing it wrong.  3 slow kicks or so to charge the capacitor.  Then get the kickstarter to the very top (may take bumping it a few times past TDC) and give it one good solid kick without touching the throttle.  Kicking like a mad person will only frustrate you.  It takes a deliberate effort and technique to do it correctly.

yeah ive tried that, sometimes it will go first kick and other times it can take up to 30, apparently the bikes need to have a new ECU put in them and that fixes it

Certainly it would have to come off the crank, not having a cam.

I currently use a carbuerator. 3 moving parts, no electrical requirement, works pretty good.:moon:

I have no issue with adding electronics or sensors. It is the power to run them and the wiring/connectors that concern me.

Your stator output at 35watts is a little low. A rewind can get you 75watts and I think that will do it.

I was looking into retrofitting an Alpha-N EFI system from another bike into my ATK605.  The only difficult issue I see is the 36 tooth timing wheel that mounts on the flywheel.  I need to adapt something and wondered if there  are sources of toothed wheels?

Thanks

It doesn't look like a piece of cake, but I see what you did.  That looks like a rotax flywheel.  I've never pulled mine out so I'm not sure how it all would be attached.  Did it press on?  Was the toothed wheel fabricated or made from something else?

Thanks for the help.

I make them. It's pressed on to a Honda flywheel. The last picture is a Yamaha flywheeel, I just machined the teeth into it.

I have been planning the conversion to fuel injection on my drz400 and have seen a couple others do it.  The question I have is;  where can you find oem electrical connectors for keihin throttle bodies?  I have a trx 680 throttle body that I'm going to use but don't feel like buying a wiring harness just for the connectors.  My only other option if I can't get the oem connectors will be do solder the wires then use aftermarket weather proof connectors.  Not a big deal if I have to go that route although I would love to keep this oem looking.

So anyone have any ideas of suppliers for oem connectors?

I made my own harness using Molex connectors from Jameco. They are not weather proof, but neither am I :moon:.

These are not much different from the stock connectors used on my DR350, so it was good enough for me. I used only two types: 2 pin and 4 pin. I can post specific part numbers if you need them. It can be a pain sorting through all the combinations of housings, pins etc. Here's part of the harness:

Best bet is to get them off of a used OEM harness.  There are some sources in the US...but they are limited.

nice post here i was wondering ive worked with plcs an some control wiring low voltage stuff as well as high voltage wiring im not the best with computers though i have a full machine shop in my garage as with tig,mig welders an just about anything i would need to fabricate a efi set up the fabrication will be the easy part for me but how difficult is this conversion for someone that has no efi experience ive done lots of automotive stuff mostly 80s 90s gm stuff obd1 an obd2 but never had to program stuff like this,an about ballpark cost complete if i source all the components from ebay an junk yards minus the actual controller an other components that are not easily available

MegaSquirt was made for guys like you. You don't need any programming or EFI experience. I didn't have any EFI experience when I started and I got my bike running EFI without much trouble :moon:. With your machining skills and tooling, you won't have any trouble at all. Just read the megamanual online, then read it again, use common sense, and you're ready to go. It's not as complicated as you might think. Like most things, after you do it once, you will realize how simple it really is.

Here's one that I've been bending everybodies mind too. Husky TE 510 with a big tank (Auqaline / IMS or something equivalent) with a Nomad aux tank on the back. Remove the stock pump from the big tank - maybe an extra litre, say 16l and the aux tank at 6l. mount the whole lot to drain through a 3 way valve and external pump and then to the injector. Set the map and you get 250Km in the sand. Trouble is - which pump to give the 40 -45 psi, bypass valve, fuel returns, anti siphon and check valve and picks up the electrical supply already there for the stock unit? I've not had much luck with the flow range, fuel returns, pressure 40 ish psi, valving, NPSH or power consuption info. Any clues.
