Hi everyone,
I've decided to buy a 2001 yz426 when they arrive at the local dealers. I know the Manufacturer's Sugg. Retail Price is $5,999. My question is....what can I expect to pay total (w/o tax)? or what price would be generally be considered a good deal? This is my first new bike and I have no idea if there is any room to deal on this model.

Mike- I heard the dealer price for the 00's was $4900, I got mine in June for $5100 but the dealer wanted to get rid of it bad and I haven't heard of anybody else getting one this low...

Mikeok and YZkicks, I had no idea one could possibly be had for those prices! My local dealer still has a 99 yz400 and they're asking 5300.00 for it!! I guess thats why its still there. I'll be real happy if I can get one for 5700.00. Thanks alot for the information...hopefully you'll be hearing positive comments from me in the near future.

I got my 2000 426 for $5199. Obviously, I didn't do as well as some but I hear I did better than most.

I guess i didnt do very well. Paid $5800 out the door and had to drive from drive 3 hours to get it. Bought it last May. couldnt find one at several dealears close to Atlanta Ga. They were all sold out.

So we are the suckers in Colorado where there are NO bikes availible. I had to give $6200 out the door. There are no deals to be had out here. Bummer.

Wow, you guys did very well!! There were a shortage (still is) of 426's in the entire northern Ill area and I drove to Indiana 4 hours away to pick mine up for $5400 out the door. Since I was from out of state, I did not have to pay sales tax. Around here I could not have touched one for under $6300 with tax. List price was what most dealers were looking to get because they knew they could get it. Good luck!!

I got my hands on the last one shipped to Sweden and I had to pay 55.000 Sek (about 5.612 USD).
And that is cash payment without trade.
I belive that both bikes and aftermarket details are a bit cheaper in the states.
What about the rest of Europe anyone ?!?!

Guess we got it pretty good up here in canada.
I got my 00 426 for 6300 bux.

Thats about $4200 american.
If your near the border it might be worth while to buy one in Canada.

Thanks for the info, at least now I have a ballpark range....Hey anybody know when these are really scheduled to be shipped to the dealers?....My local dealer has been saying 2-3 weeks since early August...Im getting itchy to buy and theres a Husky 610 in the showroom that looks better every week!

Yo flying- one thing I failed to mention about the 5100$ price I got for mine. I had been into this shop for about 2 months fairly regularly buying parts for a YZ250 I'd been re-building and the first time I asked him about the price it was a solid 5800. I tried to act uninterested until I had let it set and until I had the cash, and by then when we knew each other on a first name basis so we made the deal. On one of these forums someone posted that the dealer price was $4900 but who knows how reliable that info is. Also I would expect to pay more for the new model year, I got mine in June about the time the '01 news was being released...
