checking oil

i have a yzf426.should i be checking my engine oil when its stone cold.after it has been run it says it has the right amount of oil in but when left for a few days it says its low and i dont want to over fil it.

Always check the oil level within 10 minutes of shutting the engine off. The oil drains to the crankcase when you leave it sit.
