Dealers are using for the 2010

We live in a culture that has forgotten what patience is. Like buying anything, wait for the excitment to pass and pick up the pieces afterword. Not enough of the 2010s are out to get a good picture of its traits and it will take a year for everyone to get comfortable with them anyway. If it works well(and Im pretty sure it will) I'll get a leftover 10 or an 11 when the time is right. If nothing else a guy can pick up a fresh 09 for very little.

Boy isn't that true! I will be buying my 09 white for 5350otd which includes tax. Here in NC and SC they are coming back even after 1-2 years and making you pay taxes if you didn't at the time of purchase. Usually with penalties.

They have one at Matthews NC white right now. $9000 otd including tax. Of course thet told me they would sell me the unit for $7600, then they add a bull ---- $1400 on the back end. Like freight, setup, tax, and handeling fees. They are kidding themselves around here

i started making calls within days of yamaha announcing the bike. gave my downpayment and had a bill of sale before the end of september. of course i can't ride a bill of sale but the bike is supposed to be here any day, confirmed for december. i always buy that way and it works. 7550 in oregon (no sales tax) and no other fees. i will pay sales tax in washington when i register it to the tune of 626 dollars and change. could i get the bike cheaper next spring or summer? i'll let you know next spring or summer.

don't fall for the shipping and assembly fees. assembly consists of removing the bike from a steel crate and putting on the front wheel and number plate. shipping is bogus too. just another way to weasel a few hundred more dollars out of unsuspecting customers.

Depends on the market in the area, sure. But you know as well as I that especially with a hot new release, dealers base everything on MSRP. If you recall when the '06 came out (also late, wasn't it?) everyone started out at or near the MSRP (about $6.9K) and added tax, fees (a tax in a suit), setup, and even shipping to that, ending up near 8K. 9 months later, I picked up my son's bike for $6500 OTD.

Nothing new here, I don't think. In the big, overall view of things, I don't think paying MSRP+ is a good deal at all, and I've never done it, but right now, for a 2010 YZ450, MSRP out the door, or at your door, in this case, is close to as good as it's going to get for a while yet.

I got mine for $6200.00 otd in janurary of 06. I never really thought about it til you brought it up.

i believe he told me the $200.00 was the freight charge and he couldnt do anything about that. I'm speculating I will probally be paying 8200.00 for the 2010 model.

Yes I honestly believe that most dealers will be charging around $8300-$8500 for the 2010 units.

You should have it soon, there is one on the floor in Spokane at one of the dealers. Although it's value might be decreased a bit now... they are going to have a hard time getting all my drool off it.

I bought my 06 in May of 06... can't remember the exact price but after it was all said and done, with a trade-in, I was out $5k. I know I didn't pay MSRP at least. I will be calling the dealership that sold me my 06 in late 10 or 11 to see about getting the new one if all goes like I want it to.

Yeah I went back in to actuall see the bike in person, and It was sweet. I must say after having it a couple of weeks, just sitting there in the corner, I asked what it would take to move the bike bike from it's current location to the back of my truck. They flat out wont move on their price. $9080 OTD. Honestly I believe the bike will stay there for a while, especially with all of the issues there are. The ones everybody expected for being a first year.

The shop I ride out of has had one for almost three weeks now and its still sittng pretty. A little surprised by that, even with Christmas coming. The dealer is asking MSRP too. A little unsure of the looks until I got up close and scrutinized it but I have to say it is a fine looking bike. Especially if it was in my garage while the minivan is in the rain.

Of course, but there is always that small group that wants to have the first ones, regardless of what it is. Otherwise nobody would buy anything until things go on clearance. I cant seem to get over the prices of anything now. (although I do somehow manage to turn a blind eye to some bike stuff, my wife likes to remind me though )

I think that's against Yamaha's policies for dealers.

You think what is against Yamaha's policies? A manufacturer cannot dictate just any old thing it likes without getting into price fixing, etc. It cannot even raise the price the dealer pays for subsequent shipments if it is seen as punitive to do so. You pay them for your stock, and follow state and federal laws, and after that, they can only restrict your business activities just so much without getting in trouble.

I don't know if its true, but I have had some dealers in another state tell me that Yamaha will not allow them to ship bikes. I'm sure thats to protect another dealers territory. As for price fixing MSRP it the Manufacturers Suggested Retail Price. They are entitled to charge more or less as you can see by the way prices are all over the place on this bike.

I got the white 09 with a ti/ti dr.d pipe, hour meter, GYTR Magnesium 50 tooth sprocket Renthal R-1 works chain, 13 tooth front GYTR sprocket, GYTR air filter, GYTR feul screw, GYTR blue oil fill plug, GYTR magnetic oil plug and both GYTR timing plugs. $6100 OTD including all taxes. Bike was sold to me for $4900. Awesome deal from my boys at Alpha.

I'd be happy about that too. I've got to wait one more year for my next one unless I get a severe reversal. If that happens I have to freshen up my 08. If I am a go for a new one I'm just not sure if it will be a new 09 or a 10. I really cant lose no matter what I do. (I think/hope)
