My wife has decided to buy me a chip for my F250 for Christmas:banana: but I can't decide which I want. Ive have narrowed it down to a Banks Six Gun, or a Bully dog 4 bank chip. Neither seems to have a economy setting though, I had a edge chip for awhile and got 2-3mph better milage on the 50+ hp setting. Can I look for the same thing out of these or possibly better?

Here is a link where I will probably buy it and have gotten my info from:

I'd appreciate any insight ya can give to one or the other.

There are many better choices out there than bully dog or banks. If you could give some more info on your truck it would help point you in a better direction. I personally like Swamps for 7.3ls and Innovative for 6.0ls. Both are custom tunes and cost no more than the ones you listed and are far better. If I had to chose between the two I would go for bully dog though.

Sorry I guess I was a little vague. Its a 99 F-250 7.3, the main thing I'm looking for is adjustment on the fly, these and a TS performance (never had heard of) were the only I found. I'm looking for the swamps now but havent found the tune yet. Do you know of any others that adjust on the fly?

Get a DP TUNER! They are by far the best for 7.3's.

Don't waste your money on a bully dog or banks...go with a Tony Wildman or DP, custom tunes are the only way to go, both are adjust on the fly.

My buddy had a 99 and he had the ts performance. It ran alright it was a standard so it didnt really leap off the line.

you should get a freer flowing exaust and CAI to really wake it up...then chip

If you dont have a free flowing exhaust, then do that before a chip. Also, with the exhaust the 6637 mod is good to do.

I have the TS performance with the 6 position chip, and it works just fine.

Probably the best chips for a 7.3 would be a Tony Wildman chip, you can choose multiple different tunes (with a switch), and he seems to have a really good rep

Well thanks to everyone for the info, I really like the Tony Wildman chip. Its a little out of budget right now though so I believe Ill go with a exhaust and save for the chip. Any recomendations? I working on a budget of about $400 tops, sorry I know that really narrows down my options. So far I have found a banks monster and a magnaflow pro for around $380. Thanks again for all the info:worthy:

MBRP 4 inch. No frills, no nonsence exhaust. No fancy exhaust tips, no fancy features that really do nothing. Buddy of mine just put a 4 inch MBRP on his 2007 6.0 F350. With a muffler delete and no cat, it sounds mean. Not too loud at all in the cab. A 7.3 would sound just as good.

it goes hand in hand for gas or diesel.. with more exhaust flow you need more fuel and air going in... i'd do exhaust first than chip and then pump/injectors and a larger turbo

I 2nd the 4" MBRP. just make sure you do turbo back. youll see why when you change it out. the super dutys arnt as bad as the previous years but the downtube is squashed down like you wouldnt believe.

also you may be pleased with the performance and economy gains with just the exhaust. it makes quite a difference. that is once you quit romping on it just to hear it bark.

I just pieced my strait pipe together. I had mostly 4" stuff already though, not sure about the 7.3's. Get ride of the muffler and you can drop 100 degrees off your egt. If it has a cat then it needs to go also. I would say first exhaust, CAI, then guages of some sort, then a chip or programer or whatever. Guages are your friend. I use the quadzilla recon and it monitors EGT, Tranny temp, and boost. If you want you can upgrade it to monitor fuel psi rather then tranny temp.

IMHO monitoring tranny temp is more important than fuel pressure especially if your towing heavy loads.

It is designed for people who already have tranny guages or a stick.

MBRP is overpriced, when it comes down to it all it is, is pipe. Give these guys a call http://www.upstatedi...erformance.com/

I order everything from them. Cheapest around, Tell them Clay sent you from Texas.

diesels suck way more air than gasers

My 7.3l loves the DP tunes, although I rarely use the economy one. I usually get better mileage with the 'race' setting and it is way too much fun. I've been using it for about 40 000 miles with no problems. It hasn't negatively affected reliability at all. I did the 6637 intake that was suggested above and an exhaust and all is well.
