That would indeed be good to know. I plan on staying there next week. I was down in Baja last month and some dudes in Bay of LA said a wealthy fella from the mainland bought San Fran. There was nothing said about it being closed, though.

I stayed there last Friday night. It's still open, they had Fuel, Beer, Fish Tacos,Blankets, Cold Showers.

We also stayed there on our way south and back north for the race. The place has been sold and Chary is no longer there. A Mexican couple is now running the place and the good ol' days may be over as the new owner is not putting any money into the much needed improvements. With that said, the sheets are clean, food good, gas available, and a great sunrise exists in the most beautiful bay in Baja- have a great time!!!

Carlos Fiesta’s mentions Javier and Chary Tiznado are starting a new resort for Baja off-road enthusiasts at Rancho Progresso. Does anyone else have any recent knowledge of this?
It seems like a hard time to start something like that

re: Chary and Javier - within the past month+ I saw & spoke with one of thier kids, can't recall which, and he said Chary/Javier were planning to open a new place to stay at Punta Bufeo (a few miles north of Gonzaga). They already own land there, possibly a home.
Years back when they got ousted from PSF Chary told me she wanted to move back to Bufeo, but at the time it was just talk. Maybe some action now?

I have some great memories watching the moon come up over the water at San Fran. Sleeping on the beach... life is good there!
On my way to Tecate, hope to see a few of you guys there!

san fran is still going strong. we passed through twice in the last 2 weeks. cold beers, great fish taco's, and some of our group spent at least one night in the palapa's. we got fuel there both times as well! i'm glad that change is not coming to quickly to a very unique place on our planet. i talked to a gentleman there that said that san fran was originally slated to be a "club med, back in the 70'S".sure glad that one fell through.

Nice update! Very cool.
I have not been in over a year now and have to be honest that I am a little bummed that my Rip to the Tip ride in late April will be hugging the Pacific at that point in the Peninsula.
