hi!

im thinking about to buy a lap timer, without a beacon.

like this example: http://www.drcproduc...1-00/index.html

but, with this kind of lap-timer, you always have to push the button for getting the lap time.

now i want to know from you, does this "pushing" bother you, or is this absolutly no problem at all?? is this method quite accurate???

please share your opinons and experience with me/us!

Wouldn't bother me although I probably wouldn't remember to do it. I can say it is very inaccurate though.

not accurate at all and you will probably forget it 90% of the time.

Hey,

I have used both the DRC lap timer and the LSP, and both use the push button style feature to operate. Are very easy to use, and I never had any problem remembering to hit the button every lap. Was pressing button in air after leaving the upramp of the jump every lap. While not 100% accurate, would be within a few tenths of a second. The LSP lap timer had a couple of great features, such as the green light flash if you had a faster lap time, and the red flash if you were slower. Also good to time how long of a moto you can do flat out. Build speed and stamina as well. The DRC lap timer I had cracked the LCD display the first time I used it. Washed out in a fast sandy corner and my boot or knee brace must have hit it as I went down and it was destroyed. :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:
Can definitely recommend the LSP timer. Very good piece of equipment, and great training tool.

Swapper, is the LSP timer pretty tough? eg. during bike wash or wet weather and can it take a few little knocks? How much did you pay and bought from where?

I was keen on the (cheaper) DRC timer, until you said the LCD cracked - because vulnerable. The reason the LSP timer scares me is the price and high risk of breaking these things.

I have the DRC lap timer and it's very easy to use. The key is remembering to press the button. I've tried it in races but never remember because I'm concentrating on other stuff. Practice motos though, I just get in the habit and it requires very little thought. The mode that lets you time repeated sections is good too, I've used it to figure out which line is best.

I don't know why people would think it's inaccurate, the electronics are basic like any simple wristwatch, only a larger display. Even a $12 watch will have a stopwatch easily accurate to 1/10th of a second.
