Im currently looking for a new bike, but im just not sure which is more reliable. A 250 2 stroke, or a 250f? I heard that the 2 strokes are more reliable is this true? Or is it the other way around? Also, i heard that the yz250 2stroke has more hp? Also, is that true? thanks!

the 250 2 stroke is more reliable then the 250f BUT the yami 250f is the most reliable 250f out of all of them the yz250 does have more hp but lap time wise the 2 stroke 250 and the 4 stroke 250 pull about the same lap times

The only real difference between the bikes is the motor, and there are lots of things that can break on a bike that have nothing to do with the motor. If you are talking about motors, then of course a two stroke will be more reliable. It only has a fraction of the moving parts of a 4 stroke and operates at lower rpm.

agree 100%...i have both bikes...the yz250 would be more reliable but dont be scared of the 4 stroke being a money pit if that is the bike that fits your riding style or type of riding...the yz250f is not that bad to keep up:ride:

The YZ250 has about 10 HP more than the YZ250F. Both are very reliable provided you maintain them. The F bike requires more parts if it should blow up on you. Blown motors are caused by poor maintenance. The F bike needs valve adjustments. The top end change interval is about the same. Maintenance costs over the long haul give a slight advantage to the two stroke. It really comes down to which one you prefer. Neither is better than the other.
