Front plate and rear fender would move too much. I found the best place was my helmet, because your body absorbs most of the shock from jumps, rocks and all that and it stays pretty still...and clean! I tried mine on my bars too but when turning left and right it was a pain in the a** to watch it on the tv, I almost got sea sick!

Yup, I made a small, very thin, metal plate that I siliconed into the chin bar vent and stuck one of the flat slider mounts on it. The camera comes with an attachment that will let it point level forward. No vibration, way less limb hits (not a prob for MX of course), and doesn't make you look 10 feet in the air like it does mounted on top of the helmet.

Im a fan of most of the chin mounted videos. The videos with the cam mounted on the right or left side of the helmet annoy me. especially when the helmet and goggle strap take up the side of the screen.

I've mounted on my helmet and on my chest protector. Both work pretty good.

On the helmet I cut a hole in my visor so I could mount the camera as flush as possible to the visor. The mount is on the helmet under the visor, with the pivot point just protruding through the hole. This keeps the camera as low as possible while mounting on top. On the helmet works the best because your point of view is maintained no matter how your body is positioned on the bike.

On the chest protector, you get some interesting perspectives. It also works well, except as your body position changes, so does the camera view. I can sometimes see my feet on the foot pegs and other times the sky. Roost and tree branch wacks are also much louder. In this video you can also see that my drinking tube was wacking the camera, which I was unaware of at the time.

Thanks.

I'd love to take a pic of it on there.....but the piece I was using broke.
There are two pics below, one of my swingarm, and one of the mounts that come with the camera, numbered in order I used them.

So basically what I did was stick one of the flat stick-on pieces(1.) to my swingarm right where the little red One Industries 'O' is. Then I used the piece that slides into the mount(2.), but put a little arm with a 90 degree angle on it(3.), the the camera on that(4.).

One note though, in the picture the camera case has a mount attached to it, I removed that and just mounted number 3 directly to it.

Hope that explains it well.

Same here. I'm looking at making a more solid mounting set up so I don't have to worry about that.

I also mounted the camera on top of the swingarm, below the airbox, and just offset from the mud flap. Hit a fairly small double and it was pushed up into the bottom of the airbox. Wont do that again :bonk:

I got mine currently mounted under the visor with the visor raised as high as possible, I don't even notice the camera while riding. Here is two of the videos I took with it this way,

I was using it with it on the top of my helmet, which worked okay, but it kept getting wacked by branches and I even lost it once from one major wack. Here is what it looks like from it being on top, http://vimeo.com/7016249 http://vimeo.com/7144868

And here is a video I had it mounted on the side of the frame of my gyrocopter http://vimeo.com/7932971

And lastly, here is one where we mounted it to the bottom of my electric model helicopter http://vimeo.com/7941491

I like the idea of under the visor. Can you snap a photo of how you mounted it and post here?

Also, how does this affect your ability to push the shutter button or remove the camera, etc.?

I am too tired and lazy right now to take pictures of it. Basically I took the smallest mount Go pro provides and screwed it onto the camera, then took one of the flat stick on bases and stuck it under the visor. I had to use a few pieces of 3M tape I already had to stick between the base and the visor since the base was flat and the underside of the visor was shaped like a V.... I filled in the middle of the V with the tape then stuck the base on top of my tape.

Like I said, I adjusted the visor to be as high as possible so the camera is as out of the way as possible and although I see it.... it is high enough not to bother me at all.

As for hitting the buttons, the way I mounted mine does not effect the buttons at all. For some reason mine always wants to be in picture mode when I power it up, so I usually turn it on and make sure it is in video mode before I put on the helmet. Then when I am ready I just hit the record button and I can see a small red led light flash on the backside of the camera, this lets me know it is recording.

Works great mounted there, out of the way as much as possible and If I get roosted, I will know it and I can just reach up with my glove and wipe the mud off the cameras lens and keep on riding.

I thought about sticking it to my chest protector, but the way I ride, sometimes I nail my handlebars with my chest, and it would likely be knocked off. And for the kind of riding I do, there is no other good spot to mount it where you can protect it and know you didn't loose it.

Last Saturday a friend wearing his while we were riding, lost it off the top of his helmet and we rode another 15+ miles of trails before we discovered it was missing. He never found it.... that was 200$ just gone.....

You might be surprised at how cheap you can get into flying. Check out www.rotaryforum.com if you want to know more about gyros. I post on there as GyroRon as well.

Funny thing is, we have informally polled gyro pilots several times over the years and a good majority of them have owned or still own and ride motorcycles.
