So my 2000 Tundra has gone through 3 coils on the same cylinder in 15k miles. Both times that I have replaced it, I used good Denso coils, so it seems like something else is causing the coils to go out right?

Anyone with experience have any insight that they'd like to share? :worthy:

Heat from a plug leaking (not tight). Most dont tighten new plugs enough to crush the washer. Then hot combustion gasses leak up. Also make sure plug gap isnt excessive. ie .032" gap, if the plug number has a "11" at the end of the number, its .042-.044" gap.

MDT Tech! I didnt mention you by name but really I was adressing that to you...

Thats probably it. When I first had the problem I replaced the plugs myself, but it ended up being a coil. Ill bet the plug is loose, but ill check the gap too.

If you are ever in Colorado, beers on me! :ride:

Many are afraid of stripping the threads, which is good, but end up undertightening the plugs. Pull the plugs out, the washer on the bottom should be flat, not rounded. If its semi rounded, crank it down more, then check all the others too.

I dont drink beer, or alcohol of any kind, but I'll hold you to that offer on a nice frosty cold Diet Pepsi!
