I have an 07 450 and ride woods on it. Would it be ok to use Prestone 50/50 pre-dilluted mix in it-it says on the back of the bottle it is safe on aluminum parts...Or should I just go with the pricier Liquid Performance or Maxima...Or is it all about the same? Thank you.
Which type of antifreeze/coolant to use?

Peak, Prestone....whatever is cheapest.......IMO and one of the testers for Engine Ice that expensive stuff is a waste of money.

Make sure you get silicate free coolant or it will eat your seals and pump up.

I just checked the jug of Prestone and it says it is silicate free and works with all metals including aluminum. I guess I'll just save money and put Prestone in it ($7 at Wal-Mart), it sounds just as good as all the others. I would not mind putting Engine Ice in my bike it sounds great but where i live in Missouri we have extreme cold weather in Winter and I would like some anti-freeze in it also instead of just strictly coolant.

That's what I use too here in Mn.

Evans is the best. You run it 100%. It does not boil or cavitate, and builds zero pressure so higher pressure caps or larger radiators aren't necessary. It lasts a lifetime so it never wears out.
It even keeps XR650Rs cool under all conditions. :ride:

How about in the winter, does it freeze?

ENGINE ICE, use it in my kx250f 04 no overheat at all unless i sit there revving it for no reason

I used some cheap silicate free, compatible with aluminium, 50/50 with distilled water, prestone at canadian tire (some kind of rubbish wallmart). Never had problem

+1 for engine ice i run it in my 05 crf250r with mild motor work and hava had no problems so far

another + for engine ice. Keeping all 3 of my bikes cool with no problems.

i use engine ice, not only does it cool great, its non-toxic so if some getso n the floor or something i dont have to worry as much about my dog getting into it

I use engine ice as well, but at 15$ a liter it seems like a ripoff. However, I have heard only good things about it and nothing bad other than the price.
50/50 prestone has silicates. Everyone says that silicates hurt the pump seals, but I'm not to sure about that... I have never seen any DIRECT photographical evidence to support this.
HOWEVER, I didn't want to take the chance and figured I wouldn't cheap out considering it's only 1.2L to fill up my bike. I really wish that engine ice came in 2.4L though, 1.86 is retarded and allows a couple top ups but I want two whole coolant changes for 30$

Check out their web site: http://www.evanscool...gh-performance/
I called and spoke with their engineers at length after learning about this stuff on the XR650R forum a few years ago. Great company that does some really bitchin cooling stuff. I think they invented some odd radiators too, like the ones in Corvettes. Anyway, this stuff is the very best.
Since there is no water in it it won't steam so you get complete coverage of the cylinder walls. You also don't get any build-up or mineralization. They make a special version just for smaller racing engines like dirt bikes. It's formulated to pass easier through the smaller passages of relatively small engines like dirt bikes.
Ty Davis sells a rebranded bottle of it. Or you can google it and find it by the gallon and case online.
I've used all the other crap forever. Including Engine Ice. It works sometimes but I've boiled it when bulldogging my bike. Now, after discovering Evans I run it in everything. When I change the antifreeze/boil in my dually the next time I'm going in with Evans there too.
Read their engineering and all. This is that rare product that works better than expected. I was skeptical at first but the XR650R Yahoo guys are correct. Install and no matter what you can't make this stuff boil with a motorcycle engine.
If you look for it online I found it cheapest a few years ago at a diesel retailer.
Moon sells it in LA too. But the R is for small racing or hi-perf engines so make sure you are getting that one. Although the + (NPG+) is fine too.

Don't buy the 50/50...your paying $3.50 for 1/2 gallon of water....
