ok i (well my dad) have a 2008 mark lt (basicly an f150) and honestly the trans completely SU@! we had an 07 f150 harley edition with the awd and that one su$% too it shifted hard and shuddered when it shifted under load. both trucks were the 5.4 and the lincoln is faster as it doesnt have the awd but it still stinks i just rode in a friends new f150 with the new 6speed and its great. i was wondering what would be involved in a trans swap b/c we tow a lot and our trans takes a beating 9000lb boat 4000lb toyhauler that stupid 4 speed is gonna explode. any ideas on different transes that would work would help too it doesnt have to be a oem ford trans

Theres a pcm reflash to correct some shift concerns, but no telling if it will fix it based on your vague description of what you dont like about it. The 4R75E is dang near bullet proof and hasnt changed much since the AODE of '92

You'd be throwing money away swapping out a proven reliable transmission for something else

I'm curious as to what you dont like....its probly my favorite of any out there by any manufacturer

the trans robs a lot of power i drove in the new f150 with the 6 speed and it was much quicker. and i feel when towing since it robs that power the truck is underpowered and struggles with the weight.

Personal preferance I reckon, the 6r family is still pretty new, I'd wait to see if they are gonna prove reliable. I've had one apart a year or two ago, and maybe one since then, so far it looks good

also im curious to what makes you believe that this trans is reliable i know someone who had to replace theirs at 30,000 miles because they blew it up and i know a bunch of other guys who have had problems with this transmissin and im friends with the owner of a local trans repair shop and he tells me he gets people who have problems with these transmissons all the time

I'm an automatic trans specialist for ford motor company. The only time we really see problems with these is very high millage, or 4x4s with a leaking transfer case front seal. All the fluid will leak into the x fer case and starve the tranny. Both are pretty rare.

Very reliable trans

I am not a mechanic but I own several trucks of all makes. I like 'em all for different reasons.
The smoothest and nicest shifting tranny in any of my trucks is the one in my Dodge 15002wd.
The one that can tow the most is in my Yukon.
The only one I have not replaced is in my 2002 Ford F150 5.4.

All my trucks have right around 150k on them.

I guess what I am saying is that all of these trucks serve a purpose and there are things I like and don't like about each. Just don't throw the baby out with the bathwater..... just sayin'
