Dr. Mark i finally decided to go to the dr. the other day for my knee problems after reading a couple other post about knees. They have been hurting for about 8 yrs. now and every year they get worse. Im now at the point where i walk with a limp and look for suport to pick myself up after bending down. The pain is not excruciating its just constant. After telling this to my dr. along with other details he took xrays and told me there was no fracture or signs of a build up of something (forgot the word it was long and started with an o i think), asked about meds. and said to double what ive been taking, this would go up to 12-14 alieve a day and said to come back in 3 weeks if it still hurts.
Why after 8 years would this problem just go away in 3 weeks and is this a resonable answer to tell someone to take more pills.

That's awesome. When I was in the military the docs were famous for prescribing 800mg motrin for just about anything that ailed you. You could get shot point blank through the neck with an armor piercing round and they'd try the dang motrin first.

I'd get a second opinion and tell the doc that you've already tried meds with no results.

Before you get an MRI, get a new doctor. That one is a non-caring idiot. I recommend the old bastard one post above mine.

Davbrucas is right.
I am so glad that I am not the only doctor that posts on this website.
A careful history and physical examination has accuracy equal to MRIs.
