Back in August I took off running to get across a street and felt a sharp snap in my lower left calf area. I could barely hobble across the street and was in quite a bit of pain. Two days later I went to the doctor and saw an RN as my regular doc was not in. There was no swelling or bruising but I could barely walk. She said it sounded like a grade 1 calf tear but she did not mention a specific muscle or muscle group. She said to apply ice for twenty minutes per day and to go easy on it.
This injury is taking a long time to get better so I decided to see my regular doc for a follow up appointment. Based on my description above, he said it sounded like a plantaris injury. He said to continue taking it easy and it would eventually get better.
Are there any specific exercises I can do in the gym to facilitate recovery? I have stopped the icing, maybe I need to start that up again?
